Fight Against Insecurity : Parliamentarians On Mission

Members of the National Assembly and Senators have been enjoined to use the intersession period that began on July 7, 2022 to mobilise their populations fight against insecurity.

Cameroon’s Parliamentarians from the National Assembly and Senate  are going back to their constituencies after the June 2022 ordinary session of parliament with a daunting mission to invest and mobilise their populations to step up the fight against insecurity.
The Speaker of the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Djibril in his closing speech of the June session of parliament on July 6, 2022 commended the population for continuously stepping up their efforts in maintaining law and order through vigilante groups. He told the Members of the National Assembly, “As you return to your constituents, I would like to urge you to pursue more than ever before, the task of raising their awareness on the need to stay alert, report and furnish information  that is necessary to fish out terrorists, rebels and other highway bandits.” 
The Senior Vice President of the Senate, Aboubakary Abdoulaye who presided at the closing plenary sitting of the Upper House of Parliament on behalf of the Senate President, Marcel Niat Njifenji   said, “the Senate will never cease to condemn vehemently terrorists who sow disorder in some regions of our country, by attacking especially persons, property and public infrastructure such as the recent fire incident in the Mamfe Hospital.” The Senate supports the Head of State’s measures for a return to peace in the regions plagued by crisis, he said and appealed to compatriots who have taken up arms against the country  to, “ Lay down your weapons. Join the peace offer and the outstretched hand of the Head of State, H.E Paul Biya.”  With the appeal, he told   Senators, “More than ever, I expect from the peoples’ representatives that we are, that we invest more in this fight for the safeguarding of peace and national unity. Beyond our different schools of thoughts, it is indeed our duty to move our country forward by working for the preservation of national unity, consolidation of our democracy and our walk towards emergence.”
