Festi Foot Y’Ongola 2022 : Tournament Takes Off

The Yaounde Ngoa-Ekelle Stadium was the venue of the kick off of the second edition of the football tournament called Festi Foot Y’Ongola on Saturday July 9, 2022. Organised by the Yaounde City Council, the competition brings together teams from the seven Subdivisions of the Mfoundi Division. 
Speaking at the occasion, the President of the Organising Committee, Jean Jacques Evini Avang said apart from the competition, the committee has decided to bring in an inclusive policy which involves including athletes with disabilities so that they can feel at home with valid athletes and the society in general. Also, ten trophies will be designated as homage to some personalities who have worked hard for the building of the city of Yaounde.  
After the Yaounde V Subdivision last year, it was the turn of the Yaounde III Subdivision to launch the event. The high point of the day was the opening match between Yaounde III and Yaounde IV councils. Thousands of fans thronged the stadium to cheer their teams to victory. Yaounde IV began well dominating the game from the start and opened scores at the beginning. Yaounde three fought back and equalized at the 40th minute. The first half ended on a 1-1 score margin.
