Cameroon Cup : Some Big Wigs Bundled Out

Matches counting for the 16th finals of the Cameroon Cup took place in stadiums across the country on Sunday July, 17, 2022.

The race for the prestigious Cup of Cameroon final is getting tougher and tougher as the competition drags on. The 16th finals matches took place in stadiums across the country on Sunday July 17, 2022. Out of six matches played, six teams obtained their tickets for the quarterfinals. What has been the major surprise is the elimination of some big wigs in the Cameroon football circle from the race. Eleven-time winners, Canon of Yaounde will not play the Cameroon Cup final.
The Mekok Megonda were knocked out of the race 1-0 by Lausanne of Yaounde during one of the 16th final matches that took place at the Yaounde Ngoa-Ekelle Stadium on July 17, 2022. Dorol Nsongo Tinfack scored the lone goal of the game at the 87th minute. From the victory, Lausanne of Yaounde have moved to the eighth finals of the competition. Both Canon and Lausanne Yaounde finished third in the Elite One and Elite Two championships this season. Laussane SA defeated Soleil of Garoua 4-2 on penalties in the 32nd finals to reach the 16th finals. Canon Yaounde eliminated four-time winners Tonnerre Kalara Club of Yaounde in the 32nd finals.
Canon Sportif of Yaounde have now joined defending champions PWD of Bamenda out of the competition. Third Division side, AS Real of Bertoua, beat PWD Bamenda 1-0 during the round of 32 to seal their place in the 16th finals. That was their first 16th finals after one year of existence. PWD of Bamenda failed to defend the trophy they won some months back. In the other matches Aigle Royal of Menoua beat Fondation Apejes 3-1 and Colombe of Dja and Lobo thrashed AS Real of Bertoua 8-1. Another big wig in the top ...
