South West Chiefs’ Conference : Chief Moses Obenofunde Is New President

This followed the putting in a place of a new executive during their elective general assembly in Buea on July 16, 2022.

The South West Chiefs’ Conference (SWECC) has a new leadership. It is headed by Chief Moses Obenofunde of Bajo Village in Manyu Division as President. Chief Prof. Peter Agborbechem is the Vice President and Chief Ebong Penda is Communication Secretary among others. Chief Obenofunde took over from Chief Mafany Njie Martin. The leadership of SWECC is managed on rotatory basis among the six Divisions of the South West Region and it is now the mandate of Manyu Division after Fako Division. The new executive has a mandate of two years. The mandate was given to them in Buea on Saturday July 16, 2022, during the South West Chiefs elective general assembly. 
Chief Moses Obenofunde is the 10th SWECC President. He dedicated their mandate to work for peace in the South West Region. Also, work is to resume at SWECC secretariat at Mile 18 Buea as annual registration fee for members, project levy for members, project levy for Divisional Chief Conferences and development partners is going to fund the project. His plan of action also contains seminars to be organised to empower their people on profitable activities. Health insurance for the Chiefs has also been earmarked as a priority of the new executive.
