41st AU Executive Council : Cameroon Present Deliberations

External Relations Minister, Mbella Mbella led the Cameroonian delegation to the Council which held in Lusaka, Zambia, on July 14-15, 2022

The Minister of External Relations, Mbella Mbella represented Cameroon at the 41st ordinary session of the Executive Council of the African Union member States which held in Lusaka, Zambia on July 14 -I5, 2022 under the theme, “Building resilience in nutrition on the African continent; Accelerate the Human Capital, Social and Economic Development.” The session had as principal stake defining a new health order in Africa through the operationalisation of the Centre for Disease Control (CDC Africa) and an election for the headquarters of the African Medical Agency (AMA). External Relations Minister participated at deliberations as well as other sideline events, making known the voice of Cameroon at every stage. Organised by the African Union Commission in collaboration with the host country, Zambia, the opening ceremony was presided at by the AU Commission Chairperson, Moussa Faki Mahamat. 
A statement by the AU Chair noted that the session was holding in an environment marked by a succession of crises (Covid-19 pandemic and the Russian-Ukraine conflict) which have exposed the vulnerability the continent’s health systems and the limits of the resilience of economies. “They also exacerbated our security challenges related to the virulence and expansion of terrorism, the rise of violent extremism, the resurgence of unconstitutional changes of government, the disruption of agricultural activities due to drought and flooding, and the deteriorating humanitarian situation on the continent,” he stated.
