African Taekwondo Championships : Cameroon Bags Home Three Medals

Eight athletes represented the country in the competition that ended in Kigali on July 17, 2022.

The national men and women’s taekwondo teams are back in the country after participating in the 2022 edition of the senior African Taekwondo Championships that ended in Kigali, Rwanda, on Sunday July 17, 2022. The delegation comprising 15 people (eight athletes) was received at the Yaounde Nsimalen International Airport on Tuesday July 19, 2022. Organised by the African Taekwondo Union the competition brought together over 200 athletes from 40 countries on the continent. 
The competition unfolded in the disciplines of kyorugi (fight) and poomsae at the Kigali Arena. Cameroonian athletes put up an honourable performance in the competition. In the poomsae (equivalent of kata) Gaëtan Tchouani won bronze in the junior category. In the women’s 57kg kyorugi, Engagne Marie-Magdeleine won bronze.
