Busy Holiday : Playful Season

Some children have also derived strategies to be engaged during holidays.

Holidays can be a great time to bond with children and maybe even let children come out to play. While parents do their best to keep children gainfully and productively busy during the holidays, some children are also doing their best to get busy, especially through play.
Most empty spaces within the neighbourhood in Douala have been transformed into a football pitch as most children play football and entertain themselves during the holiday. Those that don’t have the opportunity to have a constructive activity during the long holiday could be spotted within the different neighbourhood playing and engaging in other activities. Madam Harriete Taiwo said during the holiday she allows her children to do what they want. “After their household chores in the morning, they get out and play with friends. At times I only see them rushing home when they are hungry or in the evening when it is time to sleep. I don’t have money to send them for holiday classes so I allow them to play around with friends”.
