Switzerland : National Day Celebrated

The event on July 29, 2022 in Yaounde was an opportunity for both countries to review relations.

Relations between Switzerland and the Republic of Cameroon are on the right track. The statement was made on July 29, 2022 in Yaounde by the Swiss Ambassador to Cameroon, H.E Martin Strub, during celebrations marking the country’s 731 years of its founding. Speaking during a reception ceremony at the Bastos neighbourhood, H.E Strub flanked by H.E Felix Mbayu, Minister Delegate to the Minister of External Relations in charge of Relations with the Commonwealth, other members of government and the diplomatic corps, hailed the ever-growing positive relations between Yaounde and Bern in the domain of diplomacy, humanitarian aid and health. He said, his country wholeheartedly supports Cameroon’s decentralisation process which is a major pathway in solving the ongoing crisis in the English speaking Regions of Cameroon. 
The Switzerland Ambassador who was celebrating his country’s National Day in Cameroon for the first time, added that apart from the decentralisation process, his country is still ready to lend a helping hand to Cameroon in finding a peaceful and long lasting solution to the crisis. He expressed the wish to see relations between Yaounde and Bern on the same footing after the football clash between the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon and the Red Crosses of Switzerland on November 24 in Qatar during the 2022 FIFA World Cup group game.
