Handball : National Championship Gathers Steam

Away leg matches of the Elite championship took place in Douala and Yaounde last weekend.


The national Elite handball championship is gradually gathering steam in the country. Matches counting for the first, second, third, sixth and seventh playing days of the away leg of the competition took place in Yaounde and Douala last weekend. Organised by the Cameroon handball Federation (FECAHAND) the competition brought together teams from across the country. In Yaounde like in Douala the competition was an opportunity for the public to discovered new techniques in the sport and also a chance to detect new talents. A total of six matches were placed in the two cities with several goals scored. The competition unfolded in the men and women’s categories. 
In Yaounde, Fondation André Nziko (FANZ) Handball Club beat FAP Handball Club of Yaounde 26-18 (10-11) at the Sports Complex of the Youth Training Centre in Madagascar Yaounde. AFRILAND-Minuh Handball Club of Yaounde beat AS Vita of Yaounde 35-23 (18-14). In Douala YUC Yaounde beat the University of Douala 38-23 (11-18) at the Stade de Ngodi Akwa. In the women’s competition, YUC Handball Club of Yaounde was absent in the match against H3C Handball Club of Doauala. On Sunday August 7, 2022 FANZ Yaounde beat AS Vita of Yaounde 35-20 (20-06) at the Youth Training Centre in Madagascar.
