FIFA World Cup 2022 : Over 2.4 Million Tickets Already Sold

Less than a 100 days to the start of the FIFA World Cup competition, spectators are already gearing up. According to the World Football Governing body, (FIFA), over 2.4 million tickets for matches have already been sold. The information was made public by the organisers of the competition on Thursday August 18, 2022. FIFA officials say, more than half a million of the tickets were sold in the last sales period from July 5 to 16, 2022 with more than 500,000 seats still available before the tournament kicks off on November 20 in Qatar. FIFA said 520, 000 tickets were bought in a first-come, first served phase of sales that closed last week. Cameroon’s match against Brazil and Brazil against Serbia were among the most demanded. Other matches whose tickets were highly solicited for the group stage are Portugal versus Uruguay, Costa Rica versus Germany and Australia versus Denmark. 
Speaking during the press conference, organisers said though the sales are ongoing, the number risks increasing. The officials also said that late September will see the launch of the last-minute sales phase. Over-the-counter sales will also start in Doha after the launch of the last-minute sales phase.
