Voters Registration : Year Of Women, Youths

Elections Cameroon (ELECAM) has launched the campaign “Final Lap” to enable potential voters enrol their names in the electoral register for this year 2022.


Potential voters have up to this August 31, 2022 to enrol their names in the electoral register for this year 2022 in preparation for upcoming elections. This is in respect of the Section 74 (2) of the Electoral Code which states that, “The annual revision of the electoral registers shall commence on 1 January and end on 31 August every year.”
The elections organising institution, Elections Cameroon in order to ensure optimal enrolment in the electoral register has launched a 10-day registration campaign dubbed, “Final Lap” that spans from August 21 to August 31, 2022. The campaign that is the last for this year of the revision of the electoral register comes after the special campaign launched in February 2022 that targeted youths. With this campaign focus was to intensify registration in youths agglomerations such as university campuses and vicinities and other milieus where youths often congregate.  In May 2022 Elections Cameroon launched another campaign that targeted all potential voters. The current campaign that will end on August 31, 2022 has as mission to ensure that the optimal number of potential voters register. This is essentially a digital campaign with harmonised  terms of reference adapted for digital and traditional communication in all the  10 regions of Cameroon. Consequently, besides the traditional media such audio-visual with designed programmes, ELECAM officials at the central level are using all digital platforms such as Facebook, twitter, whatsApp  to lure more potential voters to register. At the regional level, ELECAM officials broadcast spots on registration using public, private and community radio stations as well as proximity campaign.
