Robotics, Artificial Intelligence : Competition to Spur Production Underway

Some 60 students, start-upers, researchers from across the country that were preselected have begun competing for prizes.

A national competition for the production of robots and artificial intelligence have begun in Douala.
Some 60 youths from secondary and high schools, universities, research institutions, technology companies essentially students, researchers, start-upers, graduates, and individuals passionate about artificial intelligence from across the country that were selected for the first edition of the National Robotics Olympiad have begun with the design and construction of robots, toys, drones and security gadgets to perform tasks. The launch of the competition by the Advanced Vocational Training Center of Douala took place on Friday, August 19, 2022. 
The competition is holding under the theme “Robotics as a factor of industrialization.” The aim is to contribute to the country’s technological development especially in the domain of hi-tech.
Until now most, if not all toys, drones and some security gadgets used in Cameroon were imported. Many youths have been daring into robotics and artificial intelligence with the result that these have a great potential to contribute to the materialisation of Cameroon’s industrialisation drive and quest to become an emerging economy by 2035. 
“Industrialisation is not possible without artificial intelligence. It is important that youths become interested in it. We noticed that the project is able to receive support from financial institutions and that the Advanced Vocational Training Center of Douala is capable to carry on with it.
