Public Investment Budget : Low Execution Rate

The realisation percentage as of August 23 stands at 17.79%.


The low rate of execution of the Public Investment Budget projects (PIB) for the Littoral region has been blamed on wrong timing,  lack of competence on the part of some contractors  just to name a few. This was brought to the limelight during the first session of the members of the PIB follow-up committee for the Littoral region that took place in Douala on August 23, 2022. During the meeting it was re-echoed that the littoral had CFA 11.2 billion to execute 539 projects for the 2022 financial year.
So far the physical realisation rate of the above projects stands at 17.79%. The realisation rate per division stands at follows, regional projects 8.16%, Moungo Division: 20%, Nkam: 38.65 %, Sanaga-maritime: 9.80%, and Wouri Division: 13.25 %.
During deliberations, it came to the limelight that most projects were programmed to be executed during the rainy season with the heavy rains work can’t be done and some areas are completely inaccessible during the rainy season. Members also decried that some contractors were awarded contracts that they lack the competence and manpower to execute as such most of such projects are still at zero level.
