Black Bhymz: Beautiful Like That!

“Beautiful like that,” raises awareness on the need to protect one’s natural beauty. Released in March 2022, the song says whether you are light, brown or dark, the black colour remains beautiful!” explains Constantain Mbom, Marketing Director of Black Rhymz. “The newest, but one of the oldest Rhythm and Blues, R&B/Afro-pop music groups in Cameroon.”
“My favourite line from the song goes: “Love it when your skin come fairer, natural; love it when your skin come darker, natural.” That sums it all up!” Mbom says. Inspiration to compose the song derived from the deplorable rate at which black people are turning to skin-lightening creams. “Skin bleaching is associated with adverse health effects such as skin cancers, kidney disease, and severe skin damage. We should learn to love and protect our natural beauty,” he stresses.
Black Rhymz believes that embarking on a rigorous online and offline campaign is one effective way to raise awareness on the risks of skin bleaching.  “Beautiful like that” is just the beginning of what the trio says will be a long campaign.
