CAF Interclub Competitions : PWD, Coton Polishing Up

Preparations by both clubs representing Cameroon in the Confederation Cup and Champions League respectively are on high gear.

Ahead of the CAF interclub competitions which kicks off on September 9, 2022, Cameroon’s two representatives (Coton Sport and PWD Bamenda) are determined to make their voices heard by bracing up appropriately for the continental showpieces. PWD Bamenda that will be representing Cameroon in the CAF Confederation Cup recently moved to Bafoussam; to continue preparations. The club trained by newly appointed coach, Martin Nkabyo reportedly arrived in the headquarters of the West region on Sunday August 28, 2022.

The team had its first training session on August 29, 2022 and continued yesterday in both the Bafoussam Omnisports stadium and its annex, reports have confirmed. It is worth mentioning that the Bafoussam Omnisports Stadium is the ground of PWD’s matches at the Confederation Cup. Thus, the Abakwa Boys will definitely be aiming to get acquainted with the climatic conditions and master the terrain to increase their chances of winning. The training in Bafoussam might be punctuated with friendly matches that will help test the strength of the players.

It should be recalled that PWD arrived in Bafoussam after about two weeks of training in Bamenda which ended with a friendly match against Hilltop Strikers. PWD also has in its ranks newly signed players like Etta Bawak, Api Eric, Leonel Ateba amongst others that will serve as push to compete in the CAF Confederation Cup in which they will be meeting Elgeco plus of Madagascar in the first preliminary round. The first leg is billed for Bafoussam on September 10, 2022.
