North West : Bafut Stakeholders Encourage School Resumption

Bafut Council distributed didactic materials and food items worth FCFA 10 million to encourage back to school without tears.

The commitment to give education a chance for children of Bafut municipality has inspired the Bafut Council to bankroll didactic materials and food items worth FCFA 10 Million francs to promote effective teaching and learning during the 2022/2023 academic year. Some of the willing and needy children from Bafut took home the gadgets during an event at the Bafut palace Plaza recently. The lot in didactic materials included, 500 school bags, 50 cartoons of exercise books, cartoons of pens, pencils, erasers, rulers etc.

The Mayor of Bafut Council, Lawrence Ngwa Kongor took time off during the event to stress the crusader role of the council in the promotion of education in the face of security challenges. The Mayor told CT that in the days ahead, village council chairmen, Deputy Mayors   and village leaders will continue distributing more didactic materials in their zones and communities to keep the back to school momentum alive. He acknowledged constraints in moving education forward with some school infrastructure vandalized, threats and a short supply of teachers. The Mayor stated preparedness to recruit some trained and unemployed teachers to serve the communities and children who are thirsty for education.
