CAF Women’s Champions League Qualifiers : AS AWA In Malabo

The Cameroonian representative arrived Equatorial Guinea yesterday September 7, 2022 ahead of their first UNIFFAC zonal game against TP Mazembe.

Cameroon’s representative at the 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers, AS AWA FC, are now fixed on their opponents in the UNIFFAC zone. In effect, the draw which took place on September 6, 2022 in Cairo, Egypt pitted AS Awa to Tout Puissant (TP) Mazembe FC (DR Congo) for their first adversary. The game is billed for September 10, 2022 in Malabo.

Ahead of the encounter, the girls of head coach Hassan Balla arrived the host, Equatorial Guinea yesterday September 7, 2022 to continue bracing up. This was after some weeks of training in Yaounde which helped to keep them upbeat ahead of the encounter. Talking about the TP Mazembe opponent, Coach Hassan Balla said they may not know much about the team, but have appropriately prepared for any challenge. “Our objective is to win an honourably represent our country,” he said before adding that he is confident looking at the behaviour of the players during trainings. “We have taken an oath to bring back home the trophy and we plan to do just that,” he stated. Even though the Champions League is a superior level, the performance of AWA during the 2022 Guinness Super League registering 58 points and scoring 66 goals is enough reason for their opponents to stay awake.

According to the programme of the UNIFFAC zonal qualifiers which begins September 10 and runs to September 16, 2022 in Malabo, AWA plays match number 2 against TP Mazembe while match number 1 will see CECUS FC (Chad) log horns with AC Colombe (Congo).
