Douala : Some 30 Central African Refugees Return Home

The Associate Protection Officer of UNHCR Field Office Douala, Marion Le Guen, was at the Douala International Airport on Friday to bid them farewell.
A total of 30 refugees from the Central African Republic from Yaounde left Cameroon via Douala International Airport on Friday, September 9, 2022. The refugees told Cameroon Tribune shortly before take-off at the Douala International Airport that the decision to return was wholly theirs as calm has returned to their country.
One of them, Robert Biram Ngoto, said the political crisis in his country forced him to flee to Cameroon in 2013. “I have enjoyed a peaceful and pacific living in Yaounde. But I thought to return to my beloved country because it is the land of my birth. That is why I asked the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees to assist me to go back. It is my own voluntary decision to return home. Cameroon is a good country. I thank Yahweh Almighty for upholding Cameroon in peaceful condition. I have not suffered any sickness while in Cameroon. I pray that He will also uphold peace in Central Africa Republic”, he said.
Another, Pacifique Bakayoko said, “I am greatly impressed at how I lived with Cameroonians and we had no issues of conflict to resolve throughout eight years. They took me as their brother and I took them in the same way.
