Far North Business Week : Economic Forum Announced For November

A press dinner to present the event took place on September 15, 2022 in Yaounde.

The Far North Regional Council will from November 9-19, 2022 in the regional capital, Maroua, showcase the economic, cultural and tourism potentials of the region with the ultimate goal of reviving the economy. In prelude to the economic jamboree which will be the first of its kind in the region, the Far North Regional Council organised a press dinner at the Yaounde Mont Fébé Hotel on September 15, 2022 to start galvanising all actors for the success of the event. The business week will take place on the theme, “Far North: Land of opportunity and peace.”  It will revolve around import-substitution for job creation and the fight against poverty. The President of the Far North Regional Council, Kalbassou Daniel said, the theme was designed to respond to President Paul Biya’s call in his message to the nation on December 31, 2021 that, “We must work to reduce our imports by increasing production, it is up to us to create conditions for stronger, sustainable, inclusive and job-creating growth, especially for our youths.”
In his welcome words during the press dinner, Kalbassou Daniel said the general objective of the business week is to revive the economy of the Region affected by the problem of insecurity linked to Boko Haram, Covid-19 and climate change. Specifically, the organisers of the event set out to publicise the Special Reconstruction Programme of the Far North decided by the President of the Republic, exhibit the agro-pastoral potential of the Region, encourage members  of the elite  and external partners to invest in the region, emphasise youth and women’s projects as part of their empowerment and import substitution, promote social cohesion through culture and sports.
