University Games : Sporting, Cultural Activities Relaunched

A two-day seminar to that effect opened in Yaounde yesterday, September 20, 2022.

Since the adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development by the United Nations General Assembly in 2015, sports has proven to be a cost-effective and flexible tool for promoting peace and development objectives. It is in this light that a two-day seminar to relaunch sporting and cultural activities within higher education called “Preshow University Games” opened in Yaounde yesterday September 20, 2022. Organised by the Ministry of Higher Education, the seminar brings together 250 participants from 37 universties and higher institutions of learning in the country. The seminar is in line with the International Day of University Sports.
Speaking at the opening, the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, Prof Jacques Fame Ndongo expressed the wish that all activities relating to the celebration of the International Day of University Sports be celebrated in Cameroon in the same spirit. Minister Jacques Fame Ndongo used the occasion to announce that the date September 20 will be introduced in the calendar of all public and private universities in the country. For two days, the participants will gather experiences from seasoned experts and other activities. Yesterday’s relaunch was preceded by a health walk by the participants along some major streets of Yaounde and fitness exercises.
