Killings In Andek : Defence Ministry Gives Clarifications

“The Ministry of Defence hereby informs: on Monday 19th September 2022, an unfortunate incident let to the death of 02 (two) civilians at Nylbat-Andek village, Andek Sub-division, Momo Division, North-West Region.
As a matter of fact, 03 (three) members of the Defence and Security Forces of the Airborne Troops Battalion of Koutaba (BTAP), present at Nylbat-Andek in violation of instructions, attacked some inhabitants on which one of the soldiers unfortunately opened fire.
The macabre incident led to the death of 02 civilians, namely:
-    Mrs. Abazieh Suzanne, 49 years old;
-    Mrs. Etoh Basheba Akutah, 47 years old.
The corpses have been collected by their respective families.
The Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence sincerely regrets this tragic incident and extends his deepest condolences to the bereaved families of the victims.
As a precautionary measure, the three soldiers of the patrol were disarmed, demobilised, withdrawn from the area and detained at the Mbengwi Gendarmerie Unit.
