Vocational Training, Youth Empowerment: Contribution To National Dev’t Presented

The cabinet meeting of September 29, 2022 was essentially dedicated to prospects and perspectives of vocational education and Multipurpose Youth Empowerment Centres.
T he Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute on September 29, 2022 presided at the cabinet meeting focused on the training system in Multipurpose Youth Empowerment Centres and prospects for vocational education and perspectives for the start of the school year in the vocational education sub-section for the 2022-2023 training year. The meeting started with the minute of silence observed in memory of the former cabinet Minister Amadou Ali. Talking about vocational education sub-sector, the Minister of Employment and Vocational Training, Issa Tchiroma Bakary said the 2022- 2023 school year will open during a ceremony in Douala on October 10, 2022. He said the start and conduct of the school year has been organised in best conditions. He disclosed that during the cabinet meeting that took place behind close doors, the Prime Minister assigned him the task to assess and highlight the role of vocational training in terms of production of goods and wealth which will enable the country fight against poverty and unemployment. The Minister said, “Vocational training is the backbone and centre of gravity of the nation’s construction” as without it, industrialisation will not be possible. The vocational education sub-sector, he said, is however confronted with the problems of deficit of equipment which is adapted to the needs of the private sector. He pleaded with the Prime Minister to subsidise the functioning and cost of vocational training. “The Prime Minister said my communication was pertinent and gave instructions to his collaborator, the Minister, Secretary General to put in place a Committee in charge of examining all the requests and analyses,” Issa Tchiroma said. The Minister of Youth Affairs and Civic Education (MINJEC), Mounouna Foutsou, presented the training system in Multipurpose Youth Empowerment Centres which he described a second-chance education to youths who do not have the opportunity to pursue formal education.
