Ongola Cycling Race : Islam Mansouri Emerges Champion

The first edition of the competition took place on Sunday October 9, 2022 in Yaounde.

Islam Mansouri from the natioanl cycling team of Algeria is the winner of the first edition of the Ongola Cycling Race that took place in Yaounde on Sunday October 9, 2022. Organised by the Cameroon Cycling Federation, the competition came on the sidelines of the 22nd edition of the Chantal Biya International Cycling Race. The race was organised for cyclists from Europe, Africa and Cameroon who took part in the Chantal Biya International Cycling Race. A total of 57 cyclists were on the starting block at the Yaounde May 20 Boulevard which served as the departure and arrival points. It was a closed circuit race covering a distance of 79.2km. 
At the end of the competition, Islam Mansouri was the first to cross the finish line in 1h48’02” with an average speed of 43.986km/ph. Bdadou Youssef (Morocco) was second and Mansouri Abderrahmane (Algeria) was third with the same time record as the winner. Tella Artuce from SNH Velo Club finished on the sixth spot and Kamzong Abossolo finished on the seventh spot. Out of the 57 cyclists that registered, three did not take part and 25 abandoned the competition.  Apart from winning the trophy, Mansouri Islam also went home with a cash prize of FCFA 250,000 ofered by the National Hydrocarbons Corporation (SNH).
