World Judo Championship : Cameroon Reaps More Points

Three athletes are representing the country in the competition that will end tomorrow, Thursday October 13, 2022.

Cameroonian athletes at the ongoing 61st edition of the Judo World Championship in Tachkent, Uzbekistan are yet to win any medals. Three athletes are representing Cameroon in the competition. Organised by the International Judo Federation (IJF), the competition brings together the best judokas from across the world. They are Arrey Sophina -78kg, Biami Zita Ornela -70kg and Audrey Jeannette -63kg. In the -78kg fight Arrey Sophina was beaten by Zanet Michaelidou from Cyprus in the first round at the Humo Ice Dome arena in Tashkent, Uzbekistan yesterday October 11, 2022. Cameroon began the competition with Etoa Biok Audrey Jeannette in the -63kg on October 9, 2022. She beat her opponent of Kosovo in the first round and moved to the second. 
Reports say she gave her best and was able to qualify following the disqualification of her opponent. Unfortunately for her, she lost to the world champion from Canada in the second round who also lost her title in the final.  Biami Zita Ornela lost in the first fight against her opponent from Turkey in the -70kg category on Monday October 9, 2022.
