Treated Mosquito Nets : Distribution Launched In West Region

This was during a meeting in Bafoussam chaired by Governor Awa Fonka on 18 October, 2022.

The official distribution of long-lasting mosquito nets (LLIN) has been launched in the West region. The launching ceremony was presided over by Governor Awa Fonka Augustine, during a meeting that held in his conference hall on 18 October, 2022; attended by the eight Senior Divisional Officers, religious and traditional authorities, civil society actors involved in the distribution process, including the heads of the 20 health districts in the West region
At the meeting, the Regional Delegate of Public Health for the West region, Dr.Chimmoun Dairida, announced that some 1,4000,000 treated mosquito nets arrived the region for distribution, stating that the distribution exercise will last from  18 October to 4 November,2022 in the 20 health districts and major towns in the region.  He said his service was involved in the sensitization campaign phase through the traditional rulers and religious authorities, presidents of associations, and local media houses that are expected to relay the campaign messages to the population. Dr.Chimmoun said since the treated mosquito nets now serve as the first weapon in the fight against malaria and that in the past people neglected going to the earmarked distribution centers, a new strategy for this year will be door-to-door.
Meanwhile in a statistical presentation, the Regional Coordinator for the fight against malaria in the region, Dr. Folefock Ajua Richard said some 1,400,000 treated mosquito nets have been made available for distribution in the West region. ...
