Protecting World Heritage : PM Gives Assurance Of Cameroon’s Determination

Ministers of Culture of the Economic Community of Central African States on October 20, 2022 had discussions with Prime Minister, Head of Government Joseph Dion Ngute.
The Ministers of Culture of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) who are also in charge of World Heritage on October 20, 2022 presented to Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute the socio-economic development importance of World Heritage, the situation in Africa and solicited Cameroon’s support for its protection and promotion.
Talking to the press after their discussions, the President of the Central African Ministers’ Conference in charge of World Heritage who is the Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Catherine Kathungu Furaha said they gave to the Prime Minister a succinct presentation of their session in Yaounde. With regard to their request for support, he said, the Prime Minister assured of his commitment and the determination of the Head of State, President Paul Biya as well as all the other ECCAS Heads of State to support the UNESCO Convention on World Heritage and other sustainable development issues. During their meeting in Yaounde, the ECCAS Culture Ministers in conjunction with officials of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation, celebrated the 50th anniversary of the UNESCO 1972 Convention on World Heritage.
The Ministers used the occasion to thank the Prime Minister for Cameroon’s hosting of the session.
