2022 Women’s Handball AFCON : Cameroon Polishing Up

The Lionesses began training on October 24, 2022 at the Mfandena Gymnasium in Yaounde and are expected to end on November 7, 2022.

At about 9 a.m. yesterday October 25, 2022, the handball Lionesses of Cameroon were already soaked in a training exercise at the Mfandena gymnasium in Yaounde. In effect, the players are bracing up ahead of the 25th Women’s Handball Africa Cup of Nations in Dakar, Senegal, from 9 to 19 November 2022. Yesterday’s morning session was day two of a closed training camp which began on October 24, 2022.
Head Coach Serge Guebogo had in his company 17 players yesterday morning and revealed that six players were en route to join the camp. The intensity and rapidity in which work progressed were glaring signs that the team knows that they have an uphill task to move from vice champions to champions. “Stay calm, be patient and concentrated” were some of the virtues preached by Coach Guebogo and his deputy to the players. Each exercise had its time frame and its objective. The head trainer will have the players repeat an exercise over and over to get required results. When things went wrong, he will call them together to identify the problem and explain what could be done to get better. The bottom line was to improve on the technical qualities of players in each compartment of play and have a constructive team capable of producing positive results.
In the midst of the weight to get the skills absorbed, there was a high degree of conviviality reigning in the squad. Seeing players explaining to fellow mates what is expected from them with smiles ...
