Buea : Authorities Unveil Book On Decentralization

The “Glossary on Decentralization in Cameroon” was presented to the public last October, 27, 2022 in Buea to satisfy the growing desire for insights on the new trend of local governance.

A new book has been put at the disposal of actors of decentralization. It is titled the “Glossary on decentralization in Cameroon”. It seeks to explain major concepts, principles, mechanisms and functional structures in the decentralization process in Cameroon. 
Equally, the book would permit an easy understanding of the notion of decentralization. Authored by Leopold Dine Ele Aitkins, Senior Inspector of Treasury, it was launched on Thursday October 27, 2022, in Buea. The book also provides reasons why decentralization was chosen as a form of the State during the 1996 constitutional revision and highlights the merits of decentralization as compared to other systems of governance practiced elsewhere in the world. The role of different actors of decentralization and the competences transferred by the central authority to decentralized resources are also outlined.
The “Glossary on decentralization in Cameroon” is an essential tool in the hands of students specialized in decentralization and the management of local resources.
