Maternal/Newborn Health: Chantal Biya, Princess Zeid Bond

Cameroon's First Lady, Chantal Biya, in all smiles, welcomed Her Royal Highness, Princess Sarah Zeid of Jordan and Special Adviser to the World Food Programme (WFP) on Mother, Child Health and Nutrition, yesterday November 3, 2022 at the East Wing of the Unity Palace. The Princess of Jordan was at the Presidency of the Republic for an audience with the First Lady. It was a moment of bonding for both ladies over their common vision for the wellbeing of mothers and newborns worldwide and Cameroon in particular.  
It was at exactly 5:00 pm that the First Lady opened the door of the Oriental Pavilion for her august guest. Her Royal Highness, Princess Sarah Zeid was accompanied by the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations Systems in Cameroon and Humanitarian Coordinator, Dr Matthias Naab, the Deputy Regional Director of the World Food Progarmme (WFP), Evelyn Etti, and the Country Director of WFP, Wanja Kaaria.   
The audience, which lasted some 30 minutes, was a special moment for Mrs Chantal Biya whose humanitarian activities earned her the title of UNESCO’s Goodwill Ambassador for Education and Social Inclusion and Princess Sarah Zeid who is a humanitarian, maternal and newborn health advocate. Princess Zeid said it was a pleasure to have met the First Lady of Cameroon. “We have a shared vision for women and children, especially the important role woman and girls play in all societies. We bonded over our support for women and girls, especially those in Cameroon,” Princess Zeid underscored.
