The national women’s rugby XV team has begun the ongoing Group D qualifiers for the Rugby Africa Women’s Cup in Yaounde. The Lionesses beat Côte d’Ivoire 8-0 on November 4, 2022 at the Olembe Annex A Stadium in Yaounde. The encounter kicked started the qualifiers for the group D of the Rugby Africa Women’s Cup. The victory came as a sigh of relief for the players and their fans who are in dare need to grab the lone ticket in the group for the final phase of the Rugby Africa Women’s Cup next year. 
It was a thrilling encounter that kept fans on their feet shouting and cheering the players. Even though Cameroon dominated the game from the start, they equally faced a strong resistance from their opponents. No side was able to score in the first half and both sides separated on a 0-0 score margin. The Cameroonians however came much stronger in the second half and was able to score eight goals. Mengue Yvanna scored a try and Ndingo Priso Maxime converted a penalty. All efforts by Côte d’Ivoire to reduce scores were fruitless.
