2023 Rugby Africa Women’s Cup : Cameroon Qualifies For Final Tournament

The rugby Lionesses beat Burkina Faso 52-0 in the day three Group D qualifier at the Olembe Annex Stadium A in Yaounde on Saturday November 12, 2022.

The national women’s rugby XV team has qualified for the 2023 Rugby Africa Women’s Cup to take place in South Africa. The rugby Lionesses picked their qualification ticket on Saturday November 12, 2022 after they outsmarted Burkina Faso 52-0 in the day three Group D qualifier at the Olembe Annex Stadium A in Yaounde. It was a thrilling encounter that kept fans on their feet cheering the players. The Lionesses dominated the encounter from the start with a swift and accurate passes and a good play style that paid off. 
Raissa Ngoh Eyindo, Danielle Moudangwedi, Yvana Mengue, Honorine Fri Mbuh and Ntou Dooh Moussima all scored five points each in the try. At half time, the score line was 30-0 in favour of the Cameroonians. On resumption Burkina Faso led by team captain Ivette Sawadogo put up a strong resistance and fought hard to break through the Cameroon defence wall but they could not stand the wrath of the Cameroonians. Captain Mimosette Mouto and her team mates continued with their domination, warding off any attempts by their opponents. In their first outing, Cameroon beat Côte d’Ivoire 8-0. After the victory against Côte d’Ivoire the Lionesses had to win the second game to secure a spot at the AFCON and that is exactly what they did.
