25th African Women Handball Cup : Cameroon To Face DR Congo Today

The Lionesses beat Senegal 28-27 during the last group game at the Dakar Arena on Monday November 14, 2022.

The national women’s handball team will play against the Democratic Republic of Congo today November 16, 2022 in the quarterfinals of the ongoing 25th edition of the African Women Handball Cup in Dakar, Senegal. The best teams on the continent are taking part in the competition organised by the Confederation of African Handball (CAHB). The Lionesses beat Senegal 28-27 during the last group game at the Dakar Arena on Monday November 14, 2022. Cameroon and Senegal had four points each and a victory was needed to separate the two teams. Half time score was 18-16 in favour of Cameroon but Senegal came up stronger in the second half and led the game but not for long. The Lionesses of Cameroon however were able to catch up with their opponents with a more technical game. 
The head coach of the national women’s handball team, Serge Guebogo expressed satisfaction with the players. He said for the players to win the battle had to be mental, physical and technical. He said the team is prepared to fight mentally till the end. The vice team captain and goalkeeper, Noëlle Mben said the match was decisive and that they needed a victory to reach the quarterfinals. At the end of the game, Karichma Ekoh Kaltoume was voted the Most Valuable Player (MVP). The vice African champions occupy the first place in group C with six points after three matches.
