COVID-19 Vaccination: Vaccine Delivery Partnership Delegation In Cameroon

The team, led Dr. Richard Mihigo, is in the country from November 14-18, 2022 to boost vaccination efforts.

A delegation from the COVID-19 Vaccine Delivery Partnership, CoVDP, is in Cameroon for a working visit from November 14-18, 2022. As the country prepares to embark on its fifth COVID-19 vaccination campaign lasting from November 18-27, 2022. Led by CoVDP Deputy Coordinator, Dr. Richard Mihigo, the team has been meeting various stakeholders. Including the United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF, the World Health Organisation, WHO, cabinet ministers, the Episcopal Conference of Cameroon, the grouping of Protestant Churches in Cameroon, humanitarian organizations, the World Bank. 
On the whole, stakeholders have been promising to continue to give a push to Coronavirus vaccination efforts in the country. In the meeting with officials of the Ministry of Decentralisation and Local Development, the delegation sought the involvement of local governments in vaccination and to ensure as many community people are reached.
Though the visiting team was already briefed at their beginning of their mission by WHO Cameroon Country Representative, Dr Phanuel Habimana, UNICEF Cameroon Country Representative, Nadine Perrault, and Mathias Z Naab, the Coordinator of United Nations System in Cameroon, the guests have been getting more details on the COVID-19 situation in Cameroon. As they meet different stakeholders. 
The fifth COVID-19 vaccination campaign in Cameroon will be launched on Friday, November 18, 2022 by the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Chief Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute at the Indoor Sports Hall, Warda, Yaounde  at 10 am. The high profile ceremony will be attended by diplomats, cabinet ministers, amongst others.
According to the Ministry of Public Health, Cameroon has already covered 12 per cent of its population, with 1.8 million people aged 18 years and above vaccinated against COVID-19. Though encouraging, the result is not enough to prevent the country from...
