South Africa : Ramaphosa, Mkhize To Go Head-To-Head

The Race for who to head the ruling Africa National Congress (ANC), for the next five years is afoot with two candidates said to have taken a major lead. On Tuesday, while the African National Congress (ANC) announced that none of the candidates vying for its top six positions has been disqualified from contesting at the partys elective conference next month, it also revealed that incumbent President Cyril Ramaphosa and former Health Minister Zweli Mkhize were the party’s leading candidates for the top ANC job. 
Both Ramaphosa and Mkhize have been embroiled in corruption scandals over the past year. Ramaphosa has been facing questions over money stolen from his Phala Phala farm, while Mkhize resigned as health minister last year after being implicated in the Digital Vibes saga. So far, Cyril Ramaphosa has polled 2,037 nominations from party branches boosting his chances of securing a second five-year term as state president as against 916 for Mkhize.
