Angola : OACPS Members To Work Togather

During the 10th summit held in the Angolan capital Luanda, the leaders earmarked strategies to combat climate change and corruption.


The 10th Summit of Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific groups of States (OACPS) has ended in the Angolan capital Luanda. The summit from the 6–10th December, 2022 was under the theme, “Three Continents, Three Oceans, a Common Destiny: Building a Resilient and Sustainable OACPS”. For four days under the auspices of the Angolan Head of State who assumed the presidency of the organization for a period of three years, participants decided to focus on the pressing issues such as, climate change, good governance and the fight against corruption. It is the first time that the summit is taking place since the 79-member organization was transformed from ACP Group to an international organization.
During the opening ceremony, statements from the Heads of State and Government representing the three geographical regions of the OACPS were read. The Africa Regions was represented by the President of the Central African Republic, Faustin Archange Touadera, Phillippe Edward Davis, Prime Minister of the Bahamas for the Caribbean region, and Fiame Naomi Mataafa, Prime Minister of State of Samoa for the Pacific Region. The opening ceremony also saw the symbolic handing over of the OACPS presidency from Kenya to Angola.
