U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit : Deserving Reception For Presidential Couple

The Cameroonian community in the United States of America on Saturday December 10, 2022 gave the First Couple a welcome worthy of their status.
Cameroonians from different corners of the United States of America (USA) braved the cold weather of Saturday evening, December 10, 2022, lined up at the entrance of the Conrad Hotel downtown Washington D.C, to give the Head of State and his wife, Chantal Biya a warm and merited welcome. Through chanting, drumming and dancing, the Cameroonian community in the USA hailed the arrival of the First Couple for the second U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit which will be hosted by the President of the United States, Joe Biden from December 13-15. The exuberance of the crowd and the Christmas euphoria of Washington D.C all combined to give the Presidential Couple a welcome worthy of their status.
Two hours before the motorcade having on board President Paul Biya and First Lady, Chantal Biya arrived at the 950 New York Ave, NW, Washington, DC 20001, where the Conrad Hotel is located, Cameroonians from all walks of life had started preparations in fervent wait for the President. Cultural, social and professional groups, members of the civil society, the Cameroon People's Democratic Movement (CPDM), traditional rulers, Cameroonians working in international organisations and American friends of Cameroon, could be seen singing and dancing to the enjoyment of onlookers. Even the security checks in and around the hotel could not dissuade the enthusiastic crowd as they echoed charming songs.
The crowd displayed messages which did not only welcome the First Couple into USA, but also saluted the sustainable cooperation between Cameroon and the USA. Banners did not only reveal that Cameroon is one and indivisible, but also supported the New Deal government in its efforts to ensure that Cameroon becomes an emerging country by 2035.
