2023 U-17 AFCON : Cadet Lions Pooled In Tricky Group C

Following the draw yesterday, the defending champions, Cameroon will play two former champions, Mali and Burkina Faso as well as debutants, South Sudan.

The cadet Lions of Cameroon now know their opponents in the group phase of the 2023 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations in Algeria. They have been pooled in Group C alongside Mali, Burkina Faso and South Sudan with base in Annaba. This is following a draw which held yesterday, February 1, 2023. The group is tricky given that it is made of the cadet Lions, who are defending champions, as well as two other former champions, Mali and Burkina Faso. South Sudan is the only “small” team in the group given that they are debutants.
Cameroon goes into the competition as favourites after having picked an honourable qualification; finishing winners of the UNIFFAC Tournament which held recently in Limbe. Their performance in this tournament showed that Coach Jean Fiala and boys have what it takes to honourably defend their title in the competition which runs from April 29 to May 19, 2023. It should be said that Cameroon first won the competition in 2003, doubled in 2019 and aims to clinch their third trophy in Algeria. A dream which is not farfetched looking at the potentials of the team in each compartment of play.
