National Sports Facilities, Equipment Board : Task Awaiting Bell-led Team

Cameroon prides itself of magnificent sports facilities that have hosted several international events and still look forward to host more. The profitability, maintenance and upkeep of these infrastructure that the State has invested so much in was becoming preoccupying and caught the attention of the Head of State, President Paul Biya. In this light, a Presidential decree signed August 17, 2022 laid down the establishment, organisation and functioning of the National Sports Facilities and Equipment Board. To see that the Board goes operational, President Biya on Monday February 6, 2023 signed decrees appointing Joseph Antoine Bell, Chairman while Felix Ewane and Pascaline Ekombe Wanki were appointed Administrator and Deputy Administrator respectively. 
As for the task bestowed on this new executive, the August 17, 2022 decree gives a rundown of their mission. Amongst others, the Board shall use its expertise to ensure the upkeep, repair, operation, safety, development and sustainability of sports facilities and equipment, as well as specific related facilities built or developed by the State.”
In effect, the appointed stakeholders are expected to think out of the box to get a structured plan that will not only help keep the facilities up-to-date but make them wealth-generating assets. This will no doubt reduce the burden of maintenance on the State and why not boost State coffers. Simply put, the new management is expected to coin a business plan that will take the structures beyond simple places dedicated only to sports events.
