Tombel Fêtes National Unity, Renews Commitment To Peace

The barbaric incident of Thursday May 18 in Ngab, outskirts of Tombel where suspected separatist armed men shot and killed a Gendarme officer at a control post did not dampen the enthusiasm of the people of Tombel Subdivision in Kupe Muanenguba Division who turned out in their numbers to join the defense and security forces in celebrating the 51st edition of the National Day. Celebrated on the theme, “Defense Forces and Cameroonian People in Harmony to Safeguard Peace and National Unity, Bedrock of a Strong and Prosperous Cameroon,” activities to mark the event were chaired by the Divisional Officer of Tombel, Leonard Nyam, flanked by the Mayor, Rose Ngassa. 
20th May celebration in Tombel was marked by a military march-past with detachments from the National Gendarmerie, the infantry, ex-service men and the police. Meanwhile, civilian march-past saw the participation of associations and political parties. Two political parties; NUDP and the ruling CPDM took part in the exercise. The CPDM under the stewardship of the Kupe Muanenguba III Section President, Mbulle Valentine, mobilized militants who marched-past according to their various subsections, demonstrating numerical stronghold in the area.
