Question And Answer Sessions: Pertinent Issues On General Wellbeing Raised

Clarifications were given relating to issues of health, justice, education and issuance of National Identity Cards as well as some ongoing infrastructural projects.
Atotal of four question and answer sessions held at the National Assembly during the June session of Parliament. The Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute and 10 cabinet Ministers showed up to provide answers to the questions of legislators. The Head of government answered questions relating to the universal health coverage policy instituted by the Head of State, a policy the Head of Government said the first phase was already launched in the East Region by the Minister of Public Health and the five regions selected for the pilot phase. With regards to fighting malnutrition in the country, Joseph Dion Ngute said an interministerial committee has been put in place to that effect and programmes are being launched in the agriculture, fisheries and livestock sectors, all to combat hunger nationwide. Concerning the issuance of National Identity Cards, the Prime Minister assured lawmakers that an updated system will be put in place as instructed by the Head of State to ensure a timely issuance of the document to citizens. For the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) infrastructure, Joseph Dion Ngute noted that some projects have been completed and work still ongoing on other sites. He was also questioned on the management of Covid-19 funds and he gave clarifications. The Minister of State, Minister of Justice and Keeper of the Seals, Laurent Esso was also before legislators to answer to some questions relating to the independence of the judiciary and the working conditions of prison warders.
