Road To BAL 2024 : Game Over For FAP

The Cameroonian club was beaten in Yaounde by Al Ahly Benghazi of Libya 84-93 on November 5, 2023 in the third-place match of the Elite 16 West Division.
It is finally game over for Forces Armées et Police (FAP). The Cameroonian club will not be part of the 2024 Basketball Africa League (BAL). This is after they failed to pick the last available ticket from the West Division when they were beaten by Al Ahly Benghazi of Libya 84-93 on November 5, 2023. It was the third-place game of the Elite 16 West Division qualifiers played at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex.
The win for Al Ahly is the second over FAP who had fallen 86-77 on Game Day 2 of the competition. FAP didn't give up easily in the third-place match but their weaknesses in the defence and attack worked against them. The Cameroonian club won the last quarter by 28-17 points but it was not enough to turn the tide against Al Ahly who locked the game in the third quarter at 28-23. Al Ahly Benghazi, despite FAP’s fast response, kept their calm to win the game. In all, it was a game in which the winner got the last ticket from the West Division and Al Ahly Benghazi took the bull by the horns to qualify. Al Ahly Benghazi joined FUS Rabat of Morocco and Bangui Sporting Club of Central African Republic that earlier picked their spots from the West Division by qualifying for the final.
In fact, knowing that the finalists automatically qualify for the BAL, FAP had chosen the complicated path when they lost to FUS Rabat in the semi-finals 60-78 on Saturday November 4, 2023. FAP...
