FC Ebolowa : Pressing On

Despite experiencing tough moments in the ongoing return leg of the Guinness Super League Championship, the club stays top with 37 points.

At the end of the 15th playing day of the ongoing women’s division one championship dubbed the Guinness Super League, FC Ebolowa are maintaining their top position on the standings with 37 points, 11 wins and four draws. They are unbeaten this far in the competition. But it has not been easy for the South regional football outfit since the start of the return leg.
The club gunning to make history by winning the championship for the first time since the inception of the Guinness Super League, had finished honorary champions of the first leg. On return, the second leg has been thorny with the club experiencing tough times. In four matches played since resumption, FC Ebolowa have won just one and three draws. Their lives were on the lifeline when they met defending champions Lekie FF on the 15th playing day. They saved face when they could clinch a draw. A defeat could have meant losing their top seat. Some think that this slight regress could be linked to the fact that the team concluded some inter-season transfer deals. Principally, FC Ebolowa lost one of their best midfielders, Brigitte Omboudou, who found greener pastures in Turkish club, Hakkarigücü Spor Kulübü. Apart from her, the club equally loaned players like Mavi Merveille Assonfack, Samenta Keyack and Glory Nchinde to Dja Sports Academy....
