National FENASSCO League “A” Games : Tussle For Medals Begins

Yesterday, the athletes engaged in different games across the different playing grounds in Limbe.

 
The race for medals in the 24th edition of the national FENASSCO League “A” games started yesterday, April 3, 2024, with steam in Limbe. At the Limbe Omnisport Stadium, the female football team from Meme Division representing the South West Region beat their counterparts from the North West Region by two goals to zero. The highly contested encounter was watched by Prof. Nalova Lyonga – Minister of Secondary Education, Bernard Okalia Bila – South West Governor, His Lordship Michael Bibi – Bishop of Buea and many State authorities. 
At Government High School Limbe, handball took centre stage. In the female category, Teacher Training College from the North Region was subdued by those from the North West by 11 goals to 10. Then in the male category, East Region scored 20 goals against Centre Region who had two goals. It was a beehive of sport activities in other sport grounds like Limbe Community Field and Government Bilingual High School Limbe. 
During the opening ceremony at the Limbe Omnisport Stadium, Prof. Nalova Lyonga saluted the population of Limbe to have come out in their numbers to support the games. She counted the benefit the people of Limbe will have for hosting the games in their town. She said it is not just only about the games but academics too. “Not only are we organizing the games but we also organizing academics. School is a place where we fix our foundation for the future.
