2026 World Cup Qualifiers : Understanding Brys’ Pre-Selection

The list made public on May 10 2024 in Yaounde is combination of regulars, new comers and comebacks ahead of the matches against Cape Verde and Angola next month.


The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon will play day three and four matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde and the Palancas Negras of Angola next month. Ahead of the crucial matches, the head coach of the Indomitable Lions, Marc Brys has preselected 31 players who will defend the colours of Cameroon in the two encounters that will take place on June 3 and June 10, 2024. The list was published last May 10, 2024 during a press conference in Yaounde. 
After signing his contract as head coach of the national team of Cameroon, Marc Brys immediately embarked on a Europe tour in search of talented players to represent the country in major international competitions. On return, he made public his first pre-selection which was later on validated by FECAFOOT after meeting with the coach on Monday May 13, 2024. The shortlisted players who will defend the colours of the country in the upcoming encounters consists of three goalkeepers, 11 defenders, nine midfielders and eight attackers. Within this list, the Belgian has notably called up seven newcomers including Carlos Baleba (Brighton), James Eto'o (Bulgaria), Yvan Dibango (Ukraine), Raoul Danzabe (Qatar), Guy Kilama (Turkey) and Jackson Tacthoua (Italy). There are also local players like Nchindo John Bosco (Yong Sports Academy) who made a good impression this season, same as Jules Armand Kooh of Les Astres of Douala who was the best scorer last season.
