Gynaecological Endoscopy : Receiving Accolades From Millions

It all started in April, 1992 when a new surgical section of operative laparoscopy was installed at the Yaounde General Hospital after many years of collaboration between the University of Clermont–Ferrand and the University of Yaounde 1. At that time, a total of 735 laparoscopic operations were conducted in the first five years. The experience led the team of medical doctors to reflect on the use of this technique in an African country and on the necessary conditions for such an installation. Today, Cameroon is proud to own one of the most effective endoscopic hospital in Central Africa Region known as the Gynaecological Endoscopic Surgery and Human Reproductive Teaching Hospital, dubbed CHRACERH. 
Medically, endoscopy is performed for diagnosis and observation as well as treatment and surgery. Specifically, endoscopic surgery is used in several fields of medicine: in gynaecology, endoscopic surgery, called hysteroscopy, is very common for treating uterine pathologies, such as cysts, endometriosis, myomas and also for performing tubal ligation, studying infertility, or hysterectomy (removal of the uterus).
