University Entrepreneurship : Faculty Heads Brainstorm For Better Implementation

This was during the Conference of Heads of University Establishments (CHUE), chaired by the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, yesterday July 11, 2024 in Yaounde.

The Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, Professor Jacques Fame Ndongo brandished the document containing the country’s National Development Strategy (NDS) from 2020-2030 to heads of university establishments yesterday, July 11, 2024 in Yaounde. This was during the 2024 Conference of Heads of University Establishments (CHUE), holding after its last session in 2018. Minister Jacques Fame Ndongo told the over 50 heads of university establishments that it was more than time to master the content of the NDS and the role university institutions must play in contributing to the development of the country. 
Minister Jacques Fame Ndongo noted that the overall objectives pursued by NDS-30, amongst other, is to establish favourable conditions for economic growth, ensure that structural changes are essential for industrialisation of the country are obtained while also improving the living conditions of the population and their access to basic needs. Within these objectives, the Higher Education boss told his collaborators that the economic vision of the State, invites universities to accompany the economy in its 10-year development strategy. As such, universities like any other institution of learning, have the responsibility of moulding students in key areas to achieve the NSD. The conference focused on enabling the heads of establishments understand the priority areas of the economy, remodel their academic programmes to train students who will respond to the needs of the national economy. Fame Ndongo noted; “the importance to reinforce the student entrepreneur programme to promote entrepreneurship in the public and private higher education institutions cannot be over-emphasised.”
