US Presidential Election Race : Biden Withdraws Candidature

The news took many by surprise yesterday as the American leader had been resisting pressure from Democrats and the American public opinion to withdraw his candidature. About 40 officials of the Democratic party had already voiced the desire to have the incumbent stand down from his ambition to run for a second term at the American Presidency. 
In his withdrawal statement yesterday, while expressing his gratitude to those who have worked so hard to see him re-elected he added that: “I will speak to the Nation this week in more detail about my decision”. Expectations are high as to his Vice President Kamala Harris will steer the Democratic part to face Donald Trump at the upcoming presidential election in the United States as Biden voiced his support for Harris.
