Hiroshima : Call For Global Peace Continues

A group of African journalists invited by Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, visited the Peace Memorial Park on July 27, 2024, an emotional reminder of the atomic bomb’s devastation.

1945-2024, 79 years after the Hiroshima atomic bomb disaster, generations have passed but the memories are still fresh in the minds of the few survivors, those who were told the story and the Japanese People at large. The casualties were enormous. According to a message on the website of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, a single atomic bomb on August 6, 1945 indiscriminately killed hundreds of thousands of people, profoundly disrupting and altering the lives of the survivors. 
Visiting the Peace Memorial Park on July 27, 2024, Central African journalists invited by Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs were deeply moved as they embarked on a journey to understand the devastating impact of the atomic bomb and the city’s unwavering commitment to peace. They had the opportunity to revisit the horrors and the inhumane nature of nuclear weapons as well as get abreast with the message of “No more Hiroshimas”. 
The journalists were guided through the park by an 11-year-old boy who passionately shared the story of some major parts of the site. The guide started at the Atomic Bomb Dome which was registered on the World Heritage List in 1996 as a historical witness conveying the horror of the first use of nuclear weapon and as a world peace monument appealing continually for lasting peace and the abolition of such weapons.
