Forest Landscape : Congo Basin Actors Discuss Strategic Management

The third session for the Integrated Management of Forest Landscapes in the Congo Basin took place yesterday, August 7, 2024 at Soa, Yaounde.

The Minister of Environment, Protection of Nature and Sustainable Development, Hele Pierre, yesterday, August 7, 2024 presided at the third session of the steering committee for the Integrated Management of Forest Landscapes in the Congo Basin. The ceremony took place in Soa, in the Mefou and Afamba Division of the Centre Region, aimed at strengthening the integrated management of Cameroon’s forest landscapes in the Congo Basin, with the aim to ensure its biological integrity and increase economic opportunities and livelihoods for forest-dependent communities.  
The Minister recalled the main objectives of the meeting which amongst other things is to assess the progress of activities carried out by our various implementation partners during the second year of the project (2023) and also to validate the technical and financial reports of the second year. The current session will also have to formulate collective strategic orientations if necessary for the attention of the project management unit, and to validate the work plan and annual budget for the third year, which is ongoing. The members of the steering committee validated the annual implementation report for the first year and the annual work plan and budget of 2023, which stood at approximately over FCFA 987 billion.
