Preserving South West Culture: Grand Festival Announced

To be held in Buea next december, the event will be an opportunity to revive most of their traditional values and transmit to the younger generation.


The South West Chiefs’ Conference (SWECC) has instituted an annual South West cultural festival. It has been announced for December 13 and 14, 2024 in Buea. The announcement was made in Limbe on September 21, 2024 by Chief Moses Obenofunde, President of SWECC, during a planning meeting. The cultural festival will hold on the theme: “Peace, cultural revival, social cohesion and investment promotion.”
It was made known that peace is a prerequisite for development in the social, cultural, economic and political domain. “Without peace, the people of the South West will not have the opportunity to showcase the avalanche of intrinsic cultural values which they have, let alone talk about reviving them. If there is no peace, the environment will not be enabling for investors to come in,” Chief Ebong Penda, Public Relations Officer of SWECC said.
